Miss Thailand (Thai: นางสาวไทย) is Thailand’s most prestigious beauty pageant for single Thai women. It was first held on December 10, 1934 in Phra Nakorn province or The National Capital, under the name of Miss Siam (Thai: นางสาวสยาม). Miss Thailand is nothing to do with Miss Thailand World and Miss Thailand Universe.
The winner of Miss Thailand used to represent the country at Miss Universe, while 1st runner-up presented at Miss Asia Pacific International. However, Miss Thailand Organization lost these licenses to Miss Thailand Universe in 2000. The last Miss Thailand presented at Miss Universe is Apisamai Srirangsan, Miss Thailand 1999.
The beauty pageant has been broadcast on BBTV (channel 7) until 2000, then moved to ITV, which later was transformed into TITV (Thailand Independent Television) and TPBS (Thailand Public Broadcasting Service).
The 2008 Miss Thailand beauty pageant is going to held on Nov 29, 2008. Modern Nine TV is the broadcastor. Angkana Trirattanathip, Miss Thailand 2007, will pass the titleholder to the new Miss Thailand.

The Miss Thailand Universe is a beauty pageant that has been held every year since 2000, with winners competing in the Miss Universe, Miss Earth, Miss Intercontinental, Miss Asia Pacific International, and Miss Tourism Internation pageants. In fact, Miss Thailand Universe is not related to the previous Miss Thailand or Miss Thailand World.
The reigning Miss Thailand Universe is Chutima Durongdej, who was crowned on March 28, 2009 in Bangkok by Gavintra Photijak, Miss Thailand Universe 2008.

History
In 2000, Bangkok Broadcasting & T.V. Co., Ltd. (BBTV Channel 7) was awarded the rights to host the Miss Thailand Universe pageant and to send a Thai representative to compete at Miss Universe. This came after the Miss Thailand Organization lost its license from the Miss Universe Organization. Kulthida Yenprasert was crowned the first Miss Thailand Universe in March 2000.
The pageant is broadcasted by Channel 7 in Thailand.

Performance at Miss Universe
In 2005, Thailand hosted Miss universe Pageant again after the year 1992, Chananporn Rosjan, Miss Thailand Universe 2005, won the Best National Costume award in her country. She is the first Miss Thailand Universe that received the special award at Miss universe Pageant.
In Miss Universe Pageant 2006 at Los Angeles, Charm Onwarin Osathanond was placed in the Top 20. She was the first Thailand’s semi-finalist in 18 years after Porntip Nakhirunkanok has done in 1988. Osathanond was also the first Miss Thailand Universe who got a placement at Miss Universe Pageant.
In Mexico City where Miss Universe 2007 was held, Farung Yuthithum was one of the semi-finalists in the Top 15 round, which made Thailand called-in the semi-finalist two years in a row.
Recently, Gavintra Photijak, Miss Thailand Universe 2008, who was wearing a famous Muay Thai outfit, won the Best National Costume Award in Miss Universe 2008 in Vietnam.
